Idukki is one of the 14 states of Kerala state in India. This beautiful high-range district is known for its dense rain forests and mountains. The district is associated with power generation. About 66% of Kerala's power supply comes from the Hydroelectric power projects in Idukki.
The district was found on January 26 1972. Devikulam, Udubanchola, Peermedu, Munnar, Thodupuzha and Painavu are some of the most known townships.
This is also one of the nature rich places of India. Wooden Valleys & High ranges are girded by 3 main river systems, namely Periyar, Thodupuzhayar and Thalayar and its tributaries.  Pamba river also has its origin in the district. 
The district is one of the favorite location for film directors of Kerala and other parts of the country.   
As a tourist destination, Idukki offers diverse attractions such as Wildlife sanctuaries, Spice plantations, Pine valleys, Dams, Hill stations, Mountain treks, elephant rides, off road, paragliding, motor sports, etc...
